If this works out, the level of air pollution in Baguio City will definitely be lessened.
The Baguio City local government is now exploring options that would enable them to use solar energy.
In this light, Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan has allowed non-government organization Glad to be Green to test the solar energy-powered tricycle and solar energy-powered bus crafted the Australian company Star8. The solar energy-powered vehicles are currently in a two-month demo run in the city.
"The Solar Tricycle (price: US$2,000) seats 10 passengers and is driven exactly like a regular tricycle. The Solar Bus (price: $20,000), meanwhile, can accommodate up to 20 passengers," reports Mae Cornes on ABS-CBNnews.com.
Yacov Maimon of Star8 explained: "Unlike other solar technology, this does not need to be in direct sunlight; as long as there is light from the sun, it will charge."
